New Plants October 2017

From MOJAVE DESERT LAND TRUST -  got 12 new plants from October 29 2017 native plant sale   ...

 

1- Adenophyllum cooperi - Cooper's Glandweed
    1-2' H x 1-2' W A small perennial with fragrant foliage and reddish-orange flowers. Prefers full  sun and sandy to gravelly soil. Source: South Joshua Tree

2 - Penstemon eatonii - Firecracker penstemon
      1-3' H x 2-3' W A colorful perennial with bright red tubular flowers. Attracts hummingbirds.  Source: Cultivated

2 - Nicotiana obtusifolia  - Coyote tobacco
      1-2' H x 1-2'W A short lived perennial in the nighshade family. Leaves are pungent and toxic. Flowers are cream colored. Grows in rocky, sheltered places. Warning: All parts of this plant are toxic. Source: South Joshua Tree

3  - Encelia actoni Acton's encelia
       1' H X 1' W  A small turted perennial with delicate yelllow-pink

2 - Eremogone macradenia Mojave sandwort
      1' H X 1' W  A small tufted perennial with delicate yellow-pink flowers in spring. Perfect for a  desert rock garden. Plant in full to part sun. Source: Yucca valley north. 

1 - Xylorhiza tortifolia  - Mojave aster
     2-3' H x 2-3' W A long-lived perennial with beautiful lavender daisy-like flowers in spring.  Summer dormant. Prefers full sun and sandy to gravelly soil. Source: South Joshua Tree

1 - Asclepias erosa - Desert Milkweed
     2-4' H x 2' W A native desert milkweed for attracting Monarch butterflies. Grows quickly in spring and summer, dies back each winter. Prefers full sun and sandy to gravelly soil.  ( source: North Joshua Tree )
